Types of Coupons

There are many different types of coupons.  Coupons are everywhere!  Here are the different types of coupons and where you can find them:

-         Internet Coupons- These are printable coupons that are found online. Here are a few of my personal favorite coupon websites:

-         Newspaper Coupons- These are the most common type of coupons.  These come inside your Sunday Newspaper in “inserts”.  The different inserts have different names.  Look for SmartSource, Proctor & Gamble (also known as P&G), General Mills, and RedPlum.   Each insert is filled with tons of coupons! (These are all considered manufactures coupons)

-         Store Coupons- Coupons that are found in the store and on their websites. (These are not Man. Coupons!!)

-         Catalina- A printable coupon that is handed to you with your receipt upon checkout.  This is often referred to as “Store Cash”.  This is one of the most effective ways to get items free!  (You will want to keep up with these coupons in your filing system… You will be able to use these on your next purchase). (These are not man. Coupons)

-         Peelies- Peel off coupons that are found on the products themselves inside the store.  (These are man. Coupons)

-         Blinkies- Found in the store (typically where the product is located) spitting out of a blinking black box.

-         Tear pads- Usually found right next to the product on a tear-off pad.

 Organize your coupons!!!  If your coupons are organized, you will use them!  Having poorly organized coupons can be the one thing that stops you from getting that amazing deal.  There is no right or wrong way to organize your coupons.  It’s all about personal preference.  Here are a few ways that you can organize your coupons.  Choose the way that would best suit you, or even create your own way.

·        Filing method- Get a letter sized accordion organizer and file your coupon inserts, sheet by sheet, according to category.  You can also get a wallet sized organizer.  Divide the organizer into categories, clip your coupons, and file.

·        No clip method- Get a binder, fill with sheet protectors, separate each page of your coupon inserts, and file like sheets in a sheet protector.  Clip coupons when you are ready to use them.

·        Binder method- (This is my personal choice and favorite!)  Get a 3-ring binder, tab dividers, and baseball card holders 9can be found at most craft stores and sports stores. You can also order these online).

Create a tab for your different categories (Refrigerated, frozen, cabinet, medication, toiletries, etc…)  Clip the coupons and place them in the baseball card holders (place like coupons in same pouch) and put in correct category.

What to do with all these tomatoes??!??



My husband, Robby, has spent many long hours working his garden.  This week, we began to see the Harvest.  The picture above is today's harvest alone!  Each year, I spend hours canning and freezing tomatoes.  I starting thinking of a few different things that I could do with our tomatoes this year.  I decided that I am going to attempt to make Homemade Salsa. 

  Since I have never made Salsa, I have began looking for recipes.  I found one that sounds really good, nd thought that I would share the recipe with you.  I have posted it below.

Fresk Vegetable Salsa

 

what you need

• 1 medium cucumber
• 1 medium red or green pepper
• 1 small red onion
• 2 cloves garlic
• 3 scallions
• 1 small tomato
• 1 carrot, peeled,
• 1 small iceberg lettuce heart
• 1 small wedge red or green cabbage
• 1/4 cup fresh parsley
• 3 fresh sage leaves
• 3 sprigs fresh thyme
• Low-fat Italian style salad dressing

Wash and dry all the produce. In a small food chopper, process one vegetable at a time, until minced, but not finely minced. Place the vegetables in a large glass bowl and mix together.

Process the fresh herbs and add to the bowl. Mix together. Add enough Italian style dressing to moisten the salsa, but do not add an excessive amount (this can make the salsa soggy).

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill. Chill for at least two hours for the flavors to blend. (Stir at least twice during this time.)

Notes

This is great with tortilla chips, as a relish to accompany a meal, or on a submarine sandwich.

Try this in a triple-compartment serving dish: Fresh Vegetable Salsa, Homemade Guacamole, and warmed homemade Tomato Salsa! Sure to be a hit with your guests!
