What to do with all these tomatoes??!??

My husband, Robby, has spent many long hours working his garden.  This week, we began to see the Harvest.  The picture above is today's harvest alone!  Each year, I spend hours canning and freezing tomatoes.  I starting thinking of a few different things that I could do with our tomatoes this year.  I decided that I am going to attempt to make Homemade Salsa.
Since I have never made Salsa, I have began looking for recipes.  I found one that sounds really good, nd thought that I would share the recipe with you.  I have posted it below.
Please comment below if you have a better recipe (I would love to try them!)

Fresk Vegetable Salsa

what you need
  • 1 medium cucumber
  • 1 medium red or green pepper
  • 1 small red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 3 scallions
  • 1 small tomato
  • 1 carrot, peeled,
  • 1 small iceberg lettuce heart
  • 1 small wedge red or green cabbage
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley
  • 3 fresh sage leaves
  • 3 sprigs fresh thyme
  • Low-fat Italian style salad dressing
make it
Wash and dry all the produce. In a small food chopper, process one vegetable at a time, until minced, but not finely minced. Place the vegetables in a large glass bowl and mix together.

Process the fresh herbs and add to the bowl. Mix together. Add enough Italian style dressing to moisten the salsa, but do not add an excessive amount (this can make the salsa soggy).

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill. Chill for at least two hours for the flavors to blend. (Stir at least twice during this time.)
Notes
This is great with tortilla chips, as a relish to accompany a meal, or on a submarine sandwich.

Try this in a triple-compartment serving dish: Fresh Vegetable Salsa, Homemade Guacamole, and warmed homemade Tomato Salsa! Sure to be a hit with your guests!

Helpful Household Tips... Uses for Baking Soda

A few "other" uses for Baking Soda...

Its something that almost everyone has laying around the house. Whether in the kitchen, the bathroom, the laundry room, or even in the garage, you'll be amazed at what baking soda can do.  Here are a few:

1.  A Baking Soda paste removes stains from plastic and rubber utensils.  Apply with a scouring pad or sponge.
2.  Clean encrusted grease and food on roasting pans by dampening with hot water and sprinkling it with Baking Soda.  Let it sit for an hour, and wash.
3.  To loosen baked-or dried on food in pans, gently boil water and Baking Soda in the pans.  When food is loosened, cool and wipe clean.
4.  Remove stains on laminated countertops with a baking soda paste.  Apply, let dry, then rub off and rinse.
5.  Stainless-steel sinks and other surfaces can be cleaned with a baking soda paste or by sprinkling baking soda directly onto a sponge or clean cloth and scrubbing the surface.
6.  Clean tile floora with 1/2 cup baking soda in a bucket of warm water.  mop & rinse clean.
7.  Dip a damp sponge in baking soda and rub coffee cup and teacup stains away.  Stubborn stains may also require a little salt.
8.  Baking soda and vinegar will foam your drain clean and help prevent clogs.  Use 1/2 cup baking soda, followed by 1 cup vinegar.  When foam subsides, rinse with hot water.
9.  Add 1/2 cup of baking soda (only 1/4 cup for front loading machines) with the usual amount of bleach to increase whitening power.  Your whites will be brighter!
10.  Adding 1 tsp.  baking soda to the other dry ingrediants in a chocolate cake will give the cake a darker color.

Need a Creative and Exciting way to get the kids to do their chores in the summer?

Like most moms, I sometimes have a difficult time getting my kids to do their chores.  I came up with a fun and exciting way to get them to do them (without fuss).  I made each of my kids a "Chore List" for Monday through Saturday (we take Sunday's off).  Once all chores on their list is completed, they get to go to the "Summer Fun" jar and pull out a card.  On each card, i have written a fun activity that they get to do that day.  Some of them read:

"Play in the sprinkler"
"Make puppets out of paper bags"
"Make birdfeeders out of Pine Cones, Peanut Butter, and Birdseed"
"Go to the movies"
"Make a pallet in the livingroom floor and watch a movie of your choice"
"Go to the playground'
"Have a picnic"

You could put just about anything on them!  Have fun with it!  The kids will get those chores done in a hurry!  :)
Instructions for the Jar:
Get a plastic container (about $2.00 at Walmart) and pull out those scrapbooking stickers and supplies...  Decorate it any way you want!

The Beginning...

Well, this is it...  My very first blog post.  Over the past few months, people have been telling me that I needed to start my own blog.  So, I did.

I have developed quite a hobby over the past few months...  Couponing.  I have learned that there is absolutely no reason to pay full price for anything.  Not only have I saved my family money, but I have developed quite an extensive little stockpile, by which I am able to bless others.  As I mentioned, I have only been at this coupon thing for a few months, but I have learned so much in a short time.  On my blog, I plan to share these things with you.  I will be posting "Tips and tricks" frequently, as well as the breakdowns for deals I have gotten.  I hope you enjoy!  :)

As some of you may know, I am a busy stay at home mom.  As well as my "Mommy Duties", I am wife to my wonderful husband, who is Pastor of FBC Lyman, here in Gulfport, Ms.  With my two kids, they need things to keep them occupied, exspecially during these Summer months.  I will frequently be posting ideas for kids activities and crafts.

I will be posting the first of my coupon deals I have found, soon...  So, stay tuned!
